Inspired by the ever popular American Idol, Oman Idol in collaboration with Radio Sultanate of Oman, is a competition in which viewers and listeners can call in and vote on contestants to determine the best "undiscovered" young singer in the Sultanate of Oman, with the winner receiving fabulous prizes and maybe record ýdeals as well.ý

It’s a platform to show the world the kind of talent that exists in this country. Moreover, Oman Idol aims to transform all ‘wannabes’ into the somebody the world will get to see and appreciate.

The idea is to encourage talent through large stakes where the winner walks away with $20,000. With abundant talent residing all over Oman, the Oman Idol team foresees a large participation of contestants as well as voters. Oman has over the years seen effective participation of the masses in various talent contests which involve singing. Undoubtedly, Oman Idol is going out beat the past.
